The French translation of a Soviet work published in 1960, En fusée vers la lune presents the mathematical foundations of lunar trajectory flight: chemical and non-chemical propulsion, elementary celestial mechanics, impact and circumlunar trajectories, creation of an artificial lunar satellite, and prospects for crewed and interplanetary missions. The book incorporates real data from the Luna 1, 2 and 3 missions, together with a postface written for the French edition covering Soviet and American achievements in 1961–1962, including Gagarin's flight and the Ranger probes.
