Terms of Service
Article 1. Purpose
These Terms of Service ("ToS") govern access to and use of the website SpaceBiblio (spacebiblio.com), a bilingual (French/English) bibliography dedicated to the history of world space exploration.
SpaceBiblio is published and operated by Nicolas Leroy, sole trader (Entrepreneur Individuel, “EI”), with registered office in Massy (91300), France. SIREN: 105 790 729, RCS Évry. Article 2. Acceptance
Accessing the site constitutes full and unreserved acceptance of these ToS. Creating an account or subscribing to Premium implies express prior acceptance. If you do not accept these terms, please do not use the service.
Article 3. Description of Service
SpaceBiblio offers an annotated bibliographic catalogue covering the history of world astronautics from 1916 to the present. The service is structured in two tiers:
- Free access: catalogue browsing, personal favourites, viewing history, basic metadata export (BibTeX, APA, Chicago, Zotero).
- Premium access (€25/year): signed historian's critical reviews on each entry, original-language tables of contents, personal thematic bibliographies (named, ordered, shareable), personal collection (owned/read/wanted statuses, condition, notes), full structured export.
SpaceBiblio reserves the right to modify the composition of each tier, with prior notice to subscribers.
Article 4. Intellectual Property
4.1 Protected editorial content
All editorial content on SpaceBiblio (annotated bibliographic entries, critical reviews, analytical abstracts, rankings, thematic selections, bibliographic pathways) constitutes a work of the mind protected under French intellectual property law (Code de la propriété intellectuelle, articles L.111-1 et seq.).
Any reproduction, adaptation, extraction, translation, distribution, public communication or making available of this content, even in part, is prohibited without prior written authorisation from SpaceBiblio, regardless of the medium or method used.
4.2 Factual bibliographic data
Factual bibliographic data (titles, author names, publishers, publication dates, ISBNs, DOIs) are not protected by copyright and may be freely cited, provided SpaceBiblio is credited as the source.
4.3 Prohibition of scraping and automated extraction
It is strictly prohibited to carry out automated extraction of all or part of the site's data by any means whatsoever: unauthorised indexing robots, scraping scripts, crawling tools, unauthorised API access, or any similar process.
This prohibition applies in particular to critical reviews, analytical abstracts and tables of contents, which constitute exclusive protected editorial content. It also applies to bibliographic data collected in bulk (harvesting).
Violators are exposed to civil and criminal penalties under French law, including for substantial extraction of a database (art. L.342-1 CPI) and unauthorised access to or maintenance in a computer system (art. 323-1 CP).
Article 5. User Account
- Creation: free, requires a valid email address. The user warrants the accuracy of the information provided.
- Credentials: the user is solely responsible for keeping their credentials confidential and for all actions taken under their account. Account sharing is prohibited.
- Closure: the user may close their account at any time from the My account page.
- Suspension: SpaceBiblio reserves the right to suspend or close any account in the event of a breach of these ToS, without notice or compensation.
Article 6. Premium Subscription
- Price: €25 per year at the time of subscription (VAT not applicable, art. 293 B of the French General Tax Code).
- Payment: processed exclusively by Stripe. SpaceBiblio does not store any payment details.
- Renewal: the subscription renews automatically on an annual basis unless cancelled beforehand.
- Cancellation: at any time from the user's personal space. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current annual period; no pro-rata refund is made.
- Right of withdrawal: by subscribing and immediately accessing Premium content, the subscriber expressly requests immediate performance of the service before the end of the 14-day withdrawal period and acknowledges waiving their right of withdrawal, in accordance with article L.221-28 of the French Consumer Code concerning digital content supplied without a tangible medium.
- Price changes: any price increase will be notified by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. Subscribers who do not accept the new price may cancel free of charge before the effective date.
Article 7. Prohibited Conduct
Users agree not to:
- Extract, copy, reproduce or republish editorial content without written authorisation;
- Circumvent Premium access restrictions by any means;
- Share their login credentials or Premium access;
- Access the service by unauthorised automated means (scraping, bots, scripts);
- Use exported data for commercial purposes without prior agreement;
- Submit unlawful, defamatory or third-party rights-infringing content through user fields.
Article 8. Liability
SpaceBiblio strives to maintain accurate and up-to-date information. Bibliographic errors may nonetheless remain. SpaceBiblio cannot be held liable for decisions made on the basis of inaccurate information. Please report any errors via the contact form.
The service is provided "as is", without any guarantee of continuous availability. SpaceBiblio cannot be held liable for service interruptions caused by maintenance operations, technical incidents or external events.
Article 9. Personal Data (GDPR)
The processing of users' personal data is described in the privacy policy, compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, EU 2016/679) and French data protection law.
Users have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability and objection, exercisable via the contact form or from the My account page. In the event of an unresolved complaint, users may refer the matter to the CNIL (cnil.fr).
Article 10. Amendments
SpaceBiblio reserves the right to amend these ToS at any time. Registered users will be informed by email or site notification at least 15 days before the amendments take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised ToS.
Article 11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These ToS are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, the parties undertake to seek an amicable resolution before resorting to legal proceedings. Failing agreement, the French courts shall have sole jurisdiction.
In accordance with article L.612-1 of the French Consumer Code, every consumer has the right to have recourse free of charge to a consumer mediator for the amicable resolution of a dispute.
