A collection of the monthly columns Wernher von Braun (then director of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center) wrote for Popular Science between 1963 and 1967, reorganised into seven thematic chapters. In an accessible, often question-and-answer form and abundantly illustrated, the book explains rocket launch and staging, orbital mechanics, crew safety, space stations, the journey to the Moon and planetary exploration to a general readership. This is the French translation, published by Éditions Planète in 1969, shortly after the flight of Apollo 8.
