Charles-Noël Martin (1923–2005) was a French nuclear physicist and science writer, born in Saint-Ouen and died in Saint-Nazaire. Holding a degree in sciences, he collaborated with Irène Joliot-Curie before joining the CNRS. A prolific author, he gained wide international recognition in the 1950s with works such as L'heure H a-t-elle sonné pour le monde? (preface by Albert Einstein, translated into ten languages), L'atome maître du monde, and Les treize marches vers l'atome. His bilingual French-English Tables numériques de physique nucléaire (Gauthier-Villars, preface by Louis de Broglie) reflects his rigorous scientific training. A regular contributor to the Que sais-je? series (PUF), he also wrote for the magazine Planète in the 1960s alongside Louis Pauwels and Jacques Bergier.
