Les industries aéronautiques et spatiales en France

Based on a Doctorat d'État dissertation defended at Toulouse-Le Mirail in 1973, this book offers an economic and social geography of the French aeronautics and space industries in the early 1970s. A first part examines how the sector works (financial structures, civil and military production, corporate concentration, the role of the State as client, European cooperation, employment and research); a second part studies the distribution and origins of industrial locations, from the historic Paris-region sites to decentralisation toward south-western France and the space facilities (Toulouse Space Centre, the Landes test range, the Kourou launch base); a third part analyses the effects of aerospace plants on the social structures, employment, wages and urbanisation of host regions. The work is richly documented with tables, graphs and maps.
