French linguist (1912-1977), specialist in lexicology and word formation. Lecturer at the University of Rouen and later professor at the University of Paris X Nanterre, he devoted his research to neology and scientific and technical vocabularies. He authored La Formation du vocabulaire de l'aviation (Larousse, 1965) and La Créativité lexicale (Larousse, 1975), and co-edited with René Lagane and Georges Niobey the Grand Larousse de la langue française (6 vols., 1971-1978).
