Georgy Iosifovich Gurevich (1917–1998) was a Soviet science fiction writer, literary critic, and genre theorist. Born and died in Moscow, he was a leading figure of Soviet "near-aim" SF, rigorous hard-science fiction grounded in current knowledge and extrapolating toward the near-future Solar System. A member of the USSR Writers' Union (1957) and recipient of the Efremov Prize (1987), he co-edited the collective anthology Polyot na Lunu (Trudrezervizdat, 1955) and published numerous SF novels and short stories. He also authored two landmark studies of the genre: Karta Strany Fantasiy (1967) and Besedy o nauchnoy fantastike (1983).
