Popular account of the technical and physiological requirements of interplanetary travel, published in 1946 by Alexandre Ananoff, head of the astronautics section of the Aéro-Clubs de l'U.S.F. The book runs through the principle of reaction propulsion, escape velocity, mass ratio and step rockets, then the fitting-out of the spacecraft: breathable air, food, lighting, thermal control, onboard instruments, stability and steering. The second half covers trajectories to the Moon and the planets, free fall and its effects on the human body, schemes for artificial gravity, and the constant-acceleration flight the author expects nuclear energy to deliver.
