A school documentary album for the 6e and 5e school years, published in 1972 by Éditions Sudel in the Voyages à travers le monde series. In five parts, it retraces the history of space conquest: humanity's dream (myths, science fiction, the pioneers Tsiolkovsky, Oberth, Goddard, Esnault-Pelterie); the rocket, the Moon and space (atmosphere, weightlessness, celestial mechanics); the take-off (Sputnik, experiments on animals then humans, Gagarin, Titov, Tereshkova, spacewalks); the dream comes true (the Apollo program from Apollo 11 to Apollo 15, the spacesuit, the lunar module); and the future (Salyut and Soyuz stations, probes to Venus, Mars and Jupiter). The book is richly illustrated with diagrams, photographs and drawings.
