French engineer and graduate of the École Polytechnique, Jean Bodet co-edited Fusées et Astronautique (Larousse, 1965) with Camille Rougeron. He contributed several technically demanding chapters: rocket propulsion (ch. 2), orbital mechanics of artificial satellites (ch. 11), new space propulsion systems (nuclear, electric and photonic, ch. 18) and the exploration of the Moon and planets (ch. 19). His contributions demonstrate a command of applied celestial mechanics and close familiarity with the American and Soviet space programmes of the Gemini-Apollo era.
