Michel Bar-Zohar is an Israeli historian, novelist, and politician, born on 30 January 1938 in Sofia, Bulgaria. He immigrated to Israel in 1948, later studying at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and earning a doctorate at Sciences Po in Paris. A prolific author of biographies and historical investigations in French, Hebrew, and English, he is best known for his biography of David Ben-Gurion (Ben Gurion, Fayard, 1966) and several works on Israeli intelligence history. His books, translated into thirty-three languages, combine documentary rigour with narrative investigation. He served as a member of the Knesset for the Israeli Labour Party from 1984 to 2003.
