Michel Yves Bernard

FR 1927 – 2005

Michel Yves Bernard (1927–2005) was a professor of radio electronics at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM), where he taught from 1962 to 1995. A university adviser to the Centre National d'Études Spatiales (CNES) from its founding, he contributed to the training of the first generations of French space engineers. His work spanned quantum electronics (masers and lasers), foundational radio electronics, and the space applications of radiocommunications. President of the Société des Électriciens et Électroniciens de France in 1985, he co-directed Astronautique et Recherche Spatiale (Dunod, 1964) alongside Henri Moureu.
