Henri Moureu (1899–1978) was a French chemist and son of Professor Charles Moureu, member of the Académie des Sciences and lecturer at the Collège de France. A wartime resistance figure, he participated in the battle of heavy water and recovered V2 missile debris near Paris in 1944. In 1945 he founded the CEPA (Committee for the Study of Self-Propelled Projectiles), a cornerstone of the French sounding-rocket programme. Elected to the Académie des Sciences in 1961, he served as President of the Société Française d'Astronautique, the International Academy of Astronautics, and the Société Française de Chimie. Together with Michel Yves Bernard he co-directed Astronautique et Recherche Spatiale (Dunod, 1964), the first institutional French treatise on the discipline.
