Robert Esnault-Pelterie

FR 1881 – 1957

Robert Esnault-Pelterie (1881–1957) was a French engineer and a pioneer of aeronautics and astronautics. In the early 20th century, he developed theoretical work on rocket propulsion and space travel, formulating key equations similar to those of Tsiolkovsky. He is regarded as one of the major early figures of astronautics in France.
