Thomas "Tom" Streissguth, born in 1958 in Washington, D.C., and raised in Minnesota, is an American author of nonfiction books for young readers. A graduate of Yale University, he worked as a teacher and editor before turning to full-time writing. He has produced more than a hundred titles for young audiences, spanning biography, history, and geography. Rocket Man (1995), devoted to Robert Goddard, appeared in Carolrhoda Books' Trailblazer Biographies series. Streissguth is not a specialist in the history of astronautics but a prolific popularizer writing for the school market.
