Marceau Felden (1932-2022) was a French physicist, a doctor of science specialising in plasma physics and nuclear fusion. Founder and director, from 1963 to 1984, of the Laboratory of Ionised Media Physics at the University of Nancy I, he taught theoretical physics for some thirty years. Beyond his scientific work, he wrote several essays reflecting on science, technology and their wider significance for society, among them Énergie : le défi nucléaire (1976) and 21e siècle : les nouvelles dimensions du futur (1981). La guerre dans l'espace (1984) brings his expertise as a physicist to bear on the analysis of space weapons and the militarisation of space.
