Alain Souchier (20 August 1947 – 13 December 2017) was a French space-propulsion engineer. A graduate of the École Centrale de Paris (1971), he spent his entire career at the Société Européenne de Propulsion (SEP) in Vernon and later at Snecma, working on the engines of the Ariane launchers, from Ariane 1's Viking engine to Ariane 5. A keen advocate of planetary exploration, he co-founded the Association Planète Mars in 1999 and later served as its president. In the early 1970s, as a member of the Cosmos Club de France, he wrote the section on the Skylab space station's EREP mission in À la découverte de la Terre (1974).
