Giancarlo Masini (San Giovanni Valdarno, 1928 – Milan, 2003) was an Italian science journalist and writer. Trained in physical chemistry, he founded and long chaired the Union of Italian Science Journalists (UGIS) and is regarded as the inventor of science pages in the Italian press. A United States correspondent for Corriere della Sera, Il Giornale and La Stampa, he was the first Italian journalist invited by NASA to tour all its bases and laboratories, and covered space missions from 1964 to 2002. The author of more than thirty books, including a biography of Marconi, he collaborated regularly with astronomer Guglielmo Righini, notably on the Terra-Luna yearbook.
