François de Closets, born on 25 December 1933 in Enghien-les-Bains, is a French science journalist and essayist. He joined Agence France-Presse in 1961 and specialised in science reporting, first at Sciences et Avenir and then on television, where he presented science news on the national broadcast from 1965. For some thirty years he produced and hosted popular-science programmes on TF1 and later France 2, and he is the author of many best-selling essays on science, economics and society.
